Slice of Life #31

The month of March is over, and with it Slices of Life! This has been an incredible experience for me, and I can definitely see a drastic improvement in my writing. I have successfully written 31 slices and for me that is a fantastic achivement compared to my previous state of writing extremely rarely. When I first heard of the idea of Slice of Life, I immediately thought, oh my gosh I could and will not ever be able to do this, however I have proved my inital thoughts wrong! After 31 days of writing, though the pieces may be short, I feel I have pushed myself to put something out there, and I feel pround looking back over all my slices. It is extremely satifying knowing that I have accomplished this and I know this is an experience I will never forget. I really hope that you have enjoyed reading my slices, and to all of you out there who have also completed your 31 slices, I would like to say well done! And with that, I conclude my journey of writing something for all the 31 days of March. Bye!

Slice of Life #30

A timid flame dancing,
Within its glass home,
From a wick, charred,
Resting in pristine wax.
The delicate aroma,
Emitted from the candle,
Subtly filling the room,
Its lingering fragrance living,
Long after its defeat.

Slice of Life #29

An Ode To Holiday's:

Freedom and relaxation,
Enveloping and smothering,
The previous stress and boredom,
Of everyday life and everyday routines.
A long awaited break from the tedious rituals,
From the labouring call of early morning,
From everyday life and everyday routines.
Thanks Holiday! :-)

Slice of Life #28

Saplings and seedlings timidly sprout,
From dew dotted meadows and fields,
Spring whispers the wonder of color and life,
Into the previously frozen and bleak land.
Spring bearing the gift of entity and lush landscapes,
It captivates minds and proceeds with its ritual,
Spring arrives unpredictable but noticeable.
And we all rejoice as we bask in its warmth.

Slice of Life #27

A startling crack of thunder slices through the eerie silence, signaling the beginning of the storm we have all been expecting. The gray of a storm devours the pristine pink of dusk. And the familiar patter of rain falls like shards of glass, cool and clear. A flash of luminescent lighting burns through my vision. As I scan my gloomy surroundings my mind wanders home. To my warm house, no doubt basking in the tropical sun, my bedroom, familiar, the overpowering aroma of my macaron scented candle filling it. I think of my friends, the life I am so fortunate to live back home, and I am taken over by a tidal wave of gratitude.

Slice of Life #26

The heat radiates off the thin cotton, the flame inside eagerly dancing. The lantern tugs and pulls away excitedly, as if trying to escape from my grasp. I finally give in, and the lantern soars. Billowing and swaying, I watch it in awe as I now know it is in the safe tender embrace of the wind.

Slice of Life #25

A memory:

It'll be interesting, they gushed, trying to convince me and so they had. Interesting it was.... As soon as I came into contact with the water millions of icy knives stab and prick at me. I gasp, bubbles of air escape from my breath, they float and dance to the surface. Fish sway and swim, a kaleidoscope of color. Maybe this isn't so bad...
